Baskets (or pipes) are a type of short pasta with a curved tubular shape similar to a snail shell. It has a wide opening at one end and at the other end it has a flattened opening so that it is almost closed. There is also a version with a smooth surface, but the striped version is much more common. This type of pasta is also called (especially in the larger shape) snails or snails.
